Remeber the Ribbons

These ribbons represent diseases that kill and the people they've killed. Do your kids, your family, and your friends a favor by knowing your current status. AIDS and CANCER kill, there is no discrimination. Any of us can be their victim. There is FREEDOM in knowing your free. Leave no room for assumptions or specualation. Too many brown women are dying because they are either in denial or scared. Your future and your kids future should be your reason for getting tested. We want to know everything else, so know what's really good -- KNOW YOUR STATUS. It's all about living our lives to the fullest.

Be blessed, be encouraged, and be on top of your game know what's going on with you, it's your choice.~Delphine

God Made Moms To Show Their Kids How To Find....Contentment.

Good Morning Ladies, hope your walking in YOUR blessings today. Please notice that I emphasized your blessings and not anyone else's which leads back to why God wants you to teach and show your children how to find contentment in their daily blessings. We all are blessed and highly favored in the Lord but we all have our seasons. Never compare your blessings to others, HE just may have you in a season where HE wants you to be content. We all should embrace whatever season we're in by showing our contentment with the blessings we have today because who knows what tomorrow holds. Begin to thank God for HIS blessings of grace since HIS grace is always sufficient and HIS mercies are new each morning. Finding contentment in what we have now produces room for the extra in the future.

Be blessed and encouraged today, it's your choice. ~Delphine

Tuesday Tidbits Is A Year Old

A year ago, I started the weekly email to the moms of the Brown Kids Playgroup, a playgroup some friends and I organized for our kids. Well the weekly email became therapeutic for me because at the time I was dealing with a rebellious child and I was really stressed and depressed. Anyway I ended up having a conversation with a mom who was dealing with the exact same thing, and then another that's when it dawned on me that I was not alone in these struggles. I was not the only one going through. I just happened to be one who was willing to openly talk about my struggles. My willingness to share, gave way to many victories. Like I said sending the emails proved to be therapeutic for me but it also provided encouragement to other moms and opened up the lines of communication for other moms of brown kids to share. But get this, the freedom that has come in sharing through the tidbits is not only meant to encourage mothers of brown kids but also meant to encourage brown wives, brown daughters, and brown friends alike. It's not always easy nor has it been easy for me to write or share but I feel I must. I've watched God pull me out of some of my most craziest comfort zones, writing being one because as you all know I'm no writer but I truly believe God placed this on my heart to do and I also believe that the words in Ecclesiastes 9:11 are very true.

The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favor to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.

God Made Moms To Teach Their Children....In All Your Getting, Get Understanding.

Good Morning Ladies, I had the pleasure of attending my son's girlfriend's high school convocation on last night. I must tell you that these kids are much brighter and much more mature than the kids I remember in school unless I was just one of the less bright and less mature kids. These scholars amazed me as the school administrators announced their grade point averages, their scholarship offers, and all their other academia accolades. There was a student who had already accumulated 15 college credits, another who had received a full scholarship to Harvard, another who had received a full scholarship to Stanford, and the class salutatorian had never had any grade less than a "A" and this was just to name a few. These young people are our future leaders, brown and pink skin alike. As I listened to them announce all the different and difficult fields these kids would be studying, like Bio-Med, Pre-Med, Law, Physics, Pharmacy and Engineering. I was like wow! I tell you these kids have more than just wisdom, they have the understanding of what it takes to make it in these fields and will be very successful in their fields because of all their previous knowledge and efforts. Everything that they have been taught in preschool, elementary, and middle has helped them to get where they are in high school and will help them expand/extend all that they know into what they will need to know in college and for their lives after college. In closing the class president told the audience that A's are not given for effort, A's are given as the results of your efforts. This young lady planted a seed in many lives last night, what a legacy the Class of 2008 leaves for Lincoln High School. So my tidbit for today is in all of our getting, let us to be sure to get understanding.

God Made Moms To Teach Their Children....To Let Go and Allow God

Letting go and allowing God is HARD to do. I've tired so many times to let go and allow God to work things out for my good but I continue to pick things back up. I've laid relationships, friendships, finances, desires, problems, and struggles on the alter just to go back to pick those things back up. Ladies, I'm tired of doing things through my strength when God has all I need. I have decided again today to leave these things on the alter but this time I'm also praying HE gives me the strength, the wisdom, and the faith to completely let go and allow HIM to do what only HE can do. I can trust HIM with any and everything. Let us pledge today to allow our kids to hear their moms say "I am letting go and allowing God".

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

God Made Moms To Teach Their Children....Mothers Should Be Celebrated Everyday

Motherhood just like a new day is a blessing from God. We should celebrate mothers and fathers everyday for all they do and the things they can't get to today. Happy Mother's Day!

My Own Applause

Ladies, I have some exciting news to share. I made two great accomplishments this past week, on yesterday I ran my first 5k marathon after completing a eight-week runner's boot camp and on today I paid my truck off -- thank you Jesus. I plan on celebrating with a great dinner and massage this weekend. Be encouraged and blessed because we all can do it.

Have a great weekend!
