God Made Moms To Teach Their Children....that Knowing is Freeing.

Ladies, we've all heard the saying, "what you don't know, won't hurt you". I for one don't believe this statement holds a lot of truth because knowing is freeing, not knowing takes away the freedom of having a choice, which is hurtful. Another saying, "when you know better you do better", I agree with this and believe that experience is a good teacher even if it takes repeated experiences to get the lesson. What I consider a lesson learned. I've listed some examples of how I think knowing frees you to make choices.

Knowing that you can not afford something frees you to say, "No,I can't afford
it right now"; Knowing that you can afford something frees you to say,"Yes,I can afford that right now";

Knowing that he shows you trust,love,and respect,frees you to reciprocate the
same trust,love,and respect back to him; Knowing that he does not show you the love and respect you deserve or desire, frees you to walk away so that someone who will show you the love and respect you deserve or desire will walk in;

Knowing that you are cancer/diabetes/HIV free, frees you to enjoy a healthy life; Knowing that your not free of cancer/diabetes/HIV, frees you to seek the medical advise and treatment you need to have and enjoy life;

Knowing that God hears your prayers, frees you to seek HIM more through prayer,a freedom that many don't have or know; Knowing that not everyone prays for themselves or intercedes for others, frees you to pray and intercede for others;

Moms these are just a few of my many struggles, we all have struggles. I've shared these to help express why I think we should teach our children why knowing is freeing. The more you know, the more freedoms of choice you will have.

God Made Moms To Teach Their Children....Fear God, Not People.

Ladies, the writing today is all scripture, I've added nothing nor have I taken away from it. This scripture is out of the book of Matthew, it's the New Century Translation, I pray your receptive and blessed.

Matthew 10:26 -31

26 "So don't be afraid of those people, because everything that is hidden will be shown. Everything that is secret will be made known. 27 I tell you these things in the dark, but I want you to tell them in the light. What you hear whispered in your ear you should shout from the housetops.28 Don't be afraid of people, who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul. The only one you should fear is the one who can destroy the soul and the body in hell.29 Two sparrows cost only a penny, but not even one of them can die without your Father's knowing it.30 God even knows how many hairs are on your head. 31 So don't be afraid. You are worth much more than many sparrows.

In closing, don't be afraid to share your faith or what God has done in your life. Don't place limits on God or your faith because of unbelievers.

God Made Moms To Teach Their Children....What Is Considered Insanity.

Ladies, we've heard it from the pulpits, the financial advisers, and even the politicians that 2008 is a year of new beginnings. If you truly believe that this year is a year to begin a new, then do not continue to do what you have done in the past year(s) and expect something different. If you decided that this is the year that you are going to achieve more of your goals, go get it! Like the rapper 50 cents says in one of his songs "I get it", you go get yours. Walk it out even if you do not have the support of others. If you only have faith the size of a mustard seed, that's enough faith. Do better and be better, by starting a new thing in your life as well as your children lives this new year. Start working on creating a new legacy for your family, a greater legacy by doing something different this year. Show your family and friends something bigger, brighter, and better this year, something they haven't seen in you before.

Albert Einstein said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Thank God for a sane mind.

Supporting Barack Obama

Three reasons why I am supporting Barack Obama:
Ø I believe in the audacity of hope;
Ø I agree with the majority of changes that he believes need to take place;
Ø The picture I have been blessed to see of his family reminds me of my family, especially the one of his grandmother. These images highlight that we have more in common than the audacity of hope or the belief that a change is needed;

These are just three of my reasons for supporting Barack Obama; do I need any more reasons?

God Made Moms To Teach Their Children....That HIS Mercy Is New Each Morning.

How many times should we be willing to forgive someone in just one day? Before I can attempt to answer my own question I must be honest and admit that it has taken me sometimes days/weeks/months/years to forgive but I am yet a work in progress. Ladies, in the bible Jesus answered Peter's question of how many times should he forgive with, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times”. That is a whole lot of forgiveness to give but do we consider how much it is when we are the ones needing forgiveness. We readily seek mercy when we want and need forgiveness, pleading our case to the Lord to have mercy on us and our souls. The bible also says that God's mercy is new every morning, “Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning”. Wow! We wake up each morning because HIS mercy kept us through the night, and we get a fresh dose to carry us through another day and night. You may be wondering why I'm using portions of scriptures to bring home why our kids should know God's mercy is new each day, it's because the scriptures before the scriptures of HIS daily dose of mercy says "It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fails not. All tied together we need HIS mercy each day, just like we need to forgive and be forgiven so much each day, if we didn't have HIS mercy or have HIS forgiveness -- many of us including our children would cease to exist. So let's jump the gun and teach our children while they are yet still young what we already know, that HIS grace and HIS mercy are new each day because we need it, just like we need HIS forgiveness each day.

Exciting!

Moving on up!

New Year, New Beginning, and a New Way!

Happy New Year!

Ladies, I decided to kick it up a notch by creating a "Blog Spot" for Moms of Brown Kids. Instead of sending out the Tuesday Tidbits through weekly emails, I'll be posting them here! I really appreciate all the encouragement, support, and love. A special chocolate hug and thank you to Ms. Vida Addison for pulling me out of my comfort zone with love :)
