God Made Moms To Teach…Their Children While They Are Young
You don’t learn much about being a parent until you have actually become a parent. People can offer advice on parenting but until you are being a parent, rather you are a responsible parent or a not so responsible parent, you will learn or come to know that children are what they live and it’s better for them to learn what is right or wrong early on.
I’m attaching a poem that my son Idris bought home from school, they have to learn it and recite it. He called me on my way home from work on yesterday and wanted to read it to me, he began reading the poem over the phone. I had heard and read this particular poem before but it sounds different coming from your own child. I asked Idris which characteristics he thought fit him and our home, he was honest and said he didn’t know what the majority of them meant. I told him I would talk with him when I got home. I thought about Idris’s response as I drove home and thought to myself, it’s good he doesn’t know what the majority of the words mean but another part of me wanted him to know what they meant so he could confirm me – my parenting. Selfish thoughts on my part because I should be using the poem to remind me to confirm all the positives in him and staying clear of the habits that can create negatives in his life and our home.
Be blessed and encouraged today, it’s your choice. ~ Delphine
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Children Learn What They Live
If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.
