God Made Moms To Encourage Their Kids....To Try Something Different
While on summer vacation I was forced to let some of my parental guards down and allowed my children to go snorkeling in waters as deep as 130 ft. After seeing them enjoy it and being so comfortable in water that deep. The idea of surfing lessons, swimming with giant sea turtles, and exploring open water lava tubes came with easy answers. Yes, we can do it. I enjoyed our adventures immensely. Who knew my brown babies would be so good at surfing. Who ever said black folk don't swim lied. Because of the memories made, I'm glad I didn't hold them back from their adventures, I actually encouraged them in doing something different and got just has much joy out of it as they did. But before you think I went to Maui and lost my mind. I did say prayers of covering and I prayed for guidance. I also asked for wisdom and confidence, wisdom and confidence I passed on to them. Me not encouraging them to go for it, could have stunt the growth and self confidence, I witnessed in them both. I dare not discourage them after I've been telling them that they can do anything they put their minds to. My tidbit today is to encourage you to encourage your kids to try and do something different, they may end up liking it and being successful at it. Making everyone happy, someone tried something different.
Be blessed and encouraged today, it's your choice. ~Delphine

God Made Moms To Teach Their Children...About Excellence
The scripture below encourages us to put our best foot forward in all we do. When we put in our best, give our best, and strive for excellence we reap the benefits/rewards of Excellence. Be encouraged to do your best in all that you do, no matter how big or small the task my be.
1 Corinthians 3:8-13 (New International Version)
8 The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. 10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work.

God Made Moms To Teach Their Children...To Reach Higher
While I was listening to the Michael Baisden radio show on last week, I heard one of the guest say concerning kids and their friends that if they are the smartest one in the group, they are in the wrong group. Wow!!!! This triggered something in me that laid dormant for years and reminded me of words that I heard years ago while I was a student in the Upward Bound Program. " Pride Kids Reach Higher ", this is what I was told. Mr. Pride was the Director of the Upward Bound Program on USF's campus and he considered all of us his children, he expected more out of children. Thanks to Mr. Pride, his teachings, his patience, the upward bound staff, friends of like minds, and dreams of my own, I was encouraged to reach beyond mediocracy. I thank God for all the prayers and seeds planted earlier on in my life. I may not be where others are but I thank God I'm still able to reach higher and dream higher than I would have had I not been told that I could go further if I worked harder. Since I was encouraged to reach higher I would not dare deprive my children of the same. I'm encouraged to reclaim and to pass on the dream of others that existed before me. So to all children and adults alike I encourage you to reach higher by working harder. Aspire to do more in your life time, we all have more in our reach, much more than the many that came before us.
